Tools You Need to Take Off Your Car Bumper

Do you ever want to change your car grill to another more cool color or you want to change your headlight or fog light to a new one, or your front or rear bumper might be broken and you wanna change it to a new one.

All these above, the first thing you should do is to take off the bumper. This article will tell us which tools will be needed when taking off your car bumper and reinstall it.

1. A repair manual or an operation Youtube video.
This is like you are in a new city if you have a map or GPS, that will help you more and save your time to find the place you want to go to. An operation manual will help you to find the right place and make the work easier.

2. A bumper clips remover tool and extra bumper retainer clips.

There are some bumper clips you need to pop out when taking off the bumper, and the clips not easy to pop out and might be broken when taking off. So a right remove tool is very important. You can use a flat-head screwdriver, but we recommend a professional clip removal tool. If the clips are broken when pop out, you also need some new replacement clips.

3. A Philip head screwdriver
Except for the push type clips, there some bolts to retain the bumper, a philip head screwdriver will help this time.

4. Socket and Ratchet or Wrench
Also, there are some other head bolts like hex. You need to use a socket and ratchet or wrench to take them off. The most used socket and ratchet size are 8mm, you'd better confirm your bolts-head before choosing your tools.

5. Pliers and hammer
These two tools are auxiliary ones. The plastic retainer clips might hard to pop out, or the clips brock in the hole. Or the bolts are rusted and hard to screw out. Then the pliers and hammer might help you complete your work.

6. A jack
Some clips and bolts are under the car, it is not easy to take off the bumper if you do not have a jack to help you.

Except for the tools above, if you want to change a new grill/light/bumper cover, you need to buy the new one.
